This course is designed to provide basic subject control skills to those working within a courthouse environment. The goal is to provide students with skills to handle encounters with different types of non-compliance. Topics covered will include legal concerns, approach and control, strike defense/strikes, body locks/hold releases, take-downs, handcuffing, ground defense, weapon retention, shot avoidance, edged/impact weapon defense, and weapon manipulations. The course will also include scenario based training to reinforce the skills learned. Tactics, situational awareness, and critical decision-making will be addressed throughout this course.
